Preferably away from the England cricket first team.
Some will say that's harsh and an overreaction, and I will try to justify my strong opinion. I go to bed Friday night with high expectations of England batting all day and gaining a massive lead and letting the speed merchants of Jofra and Wood pepper the Aussie top order.
Hence my surprise when I see the Australians are now chasing 205 and chase it quite easily with their number 5 opening the batting at short notice. Two of your best bowlers out and you win at a canter and find a new opener so you can bring your best all-rounder into the side, what a time to be Australian.
Only the English bowlers can come out of this two-day disaster with any credit, but then the change of intensity in the second innings could be worrying.
Zac Crawley needs to be dropped. I can give some grace to his second dismissal, but his first innings was a car crash, and he should know by now that the big booming drive early on needs to be resisted. Jacob Bethell should be brought in, and then promote Jamie Smith to be the opener. Will this definitely work? No, but changes need to happen after this crushing defeat.
