Liverpool: back round we go
The first time I wore a Liverpool shirt, I was 5 years old, and it was the beautiful white and green checkered top, which is the most likely reason why I'm so in love with this year's third kit.
I have watched Liverpool since I was 5, when I fell in love with most sports! The years have contained every emotion imaginable. Losing cup finals, winning cup finals, winning leagues, signing Andy Carroll for far too much money, signing Fernando Torres (that's more like it)
The years I have watched Liverpool, there have been more down moments than up, but I've seen cup wins and league wins, but also the majority have been failing to qualify for the Champions League and then on the other side, my son has seen league wins and Champions League wins and isn't used to Liverpool losing games of football.
For context, the first time I cried at a game of football, John Arne Riise scored an own goal away at Southampton, and we lost 2-0, albeit in the beautiful gold kit. Back to the other side, my son's first time he cried at a game of football was when Liverpool lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, oh, the difference.
So for me, the current situation feels like putting on a familiar coat might be a little snug, but I remember the feeling and the smell all the same. Now the question is, can Arne fix this?
I have no idea, but I do know we look like a ghost of the side we were last year, and something needs to change. He needs to sort his selections out and tweak a few things with the system. Will he?
Who knows, but guess what? We'll still be watching and wearing the shirts along the way.
One thing I do know for sure......
It'll come back around.
