Revive
If we've been a Christian for a while, sometimes things can feel stale — everything becomes part of a routine, a chore. Not as exciting as when we first started following God, when the fire inside us was a roaring blaze instead of the tiny embers it can become.
Sometimes that fire burning down goes unnoticed for a long time, until we realize we aren't excited anymore, and we aren't living fully for God.
It can happen for many reasons — life gets busy, we prioritize the wrong things ahead of spending time with God, and then wonder why we feel strange or empty. I know I often fill my time with meaningless things such as doomscrolling, internet shopping and procrastinating But whenever I slow down and spend time in the Lord's presence, that's where I find peace.
So how do we revive a fire that was once roaring?
We go back to what matters. We strip away the noise and the nonsense, open our Bibles, and talk to God. Sometimes that's the hardest thing in the world to do. But when we do it, and keep doing it, everything else fades and mutes. We focus in on what God is saying to us — and that excites us, that scares us, that makes us feel something. Ultimately, that's what fans the inner flame back to life.
Our lives get cluttered with needless things, and often we haven't surrounded ourselves with the right people — people who encourage us and sharpen us.
Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."
To be in a place where we're excited for God and living life rightly, we have to recognize how to revive our spiritual life. We must sit with our Heavenly Father, let Him revive our faith and lay down at the cross anything that's weighing us down.
Habakkuk 3:2 "O Lord, I have heard the report of You, and Your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy."
